Saint Sophia School wants to wish you all a very Happy New Year!
Our Christmas Program was a huge success! Thank You to our teachers, volunteers, and parents for all you do!
The children did a wonderful job singing ΤΡΙΓΩΝΑ ΚΑΛΑΝΤΑ (Jingle Bells), and Άγια Νύχτα (Silent Night) in Greek! They also displayed their American Sign Language knowledge by signing Silent Night as well!
For the first time, our Toddler Friday program joined the big kids on stage for Jingle Bells!
We have had an exciting year of learning and fun with our friends, and we are excited to see what 2017 brings!
Hello Parents and Friends,
Our first week at Saint Sophia School was simply fabulous! Here are some of the highlights starting with the blessing and meeting in the Prayer Garden. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did as I looked through them.
We always appreciate your thoughts and comments on any post on the website.
All the best,
We are off to a great start at Saint Sophia School. The First Day of School Celebration was attended by all PreK parents and children. The weather was beautiful, the new fountain in the prayer garden gurgled as we all listened to Fathers Elias and Matthew bless us and our school. Everyone met the staff and had the oportunity to tour the grounds and see the new look of the classrooms and the entry hall in particular. The parent/child activities were a real hit! The binoculars will be used to study nature up close and personal. Soon you will see all the wood block collages on display in the hall. We have very creative families here at Saint Sophia! Thanks to all the parents for meeting with me to go over the parent handbook. If you have any questions about anything in the handbook, or anything about education at Saint Sophia, my door is always open. Stop in, even if it’s just to say “Hello!”
Today both classes met in Church with Father Elias to have a “First Look” at the church, talk about how to behave while in church and learn a little about some of the icons. For those of you who have not been inside Prophet Elias Church it should be on your “must visit” list.
Just a couple reminders to all you wonderful parents: If you haven’t already turned in your blue slip that came in your Parent Handbook, please do so as soon as possible. Next, please help your child remember to bring home his/her folder every day and bring it back the next day. Important notices, messages from the teacher or office, student work, book orders, etc. will all come to you via this folder. It’s the one with your child’s picture and name on the front–you can’t miss it!
I have had the pleasure of meeting and talking to many of you and look forward to working together to make this the best year ever for the children of Saint Sophia School.
All the best,
Kathy Bringhurst, Education Director
