This is turning out to be a very busy month. So, as I am updating my calendar, I thought I would remind all of you about what’s going on at Saint Sopia School this month so you can update yours, too.
First of all, I want to thank all the interested parents who attended the meeting on November 3 to discuss proposals for Extended Day Special Sessions, Kindergarten and PreK 4+. Your input is valuable to us and we will be keeping you informed about the programs and aaking for your support and commitment to a Kindergarten Program for 2015-16. Details of the proposed programs will be available for all parents this coming week. I’ll have the information put into your child’s folder sometime during the week. Parents who were not able to attend the meeting– please send in your concerns, questions, suggestions, etc. –we want everyone’s voice to be heard.
Update your calendar!
This week in the Atelier volunteers are working with our students on decorations for the Gala and Holiday ornaments to sell at the Boutique. Thanks to all who are donating their time to help us with these art projects. Thanks also to Jaime for scheduling all the volunteers. **Don’t forget to log in your hours in the Volunteer book found in the office.
November 12 – Scholastic Book Orders Due! Order online or bring check to the office for books. If you would like us to hold the books for you when they arrive (gifts for Christmas) just let us know and we’ll keep them in Santa’s bag for you to pick up in the office at your convenience.
Friday, November 14 – Uniform Dress – students attend Church
Havana Nights! November 14th – our biggest fund raising event of the year! I hope you are all planning on having some serious fun eating, drinking, smoking cigars and dancing the night away at the Salt Lake Country Club. The fun begins at 6:00 PM with a silent auction. I’ve heard there are some really terrific items to bid on….there’s also a live auction (the opposite of the silent auction…this one is loud!) and you won’t believe the great items that you will be trying to get by outbidding your friends! If you haven’t already signed up, the clock is ticking…..seating is limited….so stop in and make your reservation with Brian. Can’t come and want to put in a bid for children’s art work before the “public” auction? See Kathy or Brian for details.
Wednesday, November 19th, 9:10 – 10:00 AM — Parent Get Together – Topic: What Should Your PreK student know and be able to do to be fully prepared for Kindergarten?
Saturday, November 22nd – Boutique at Prophet Elias. Our booth will be by the trophy case next to the “little gym”. We will be selling ornaments and Christmas card packs, all made by your children. If you have artistic/craftsy talent and would like to donate holiday items (handmade, please) to our boutique booth, please contact Kathy. In addition to adding your craft or art piece to our booth, we hope you will volunteer to help out at the booth and/or attend the boutique and support the children and Saint Sophia School.
Book Fair and Book Review –Kicking off the Book Fair will be an informative Book Review for Parents on Friday, November 21 at 11:00. The Book Fair will continue through November 26th (will also be open during the Boutique and following church on Sunday). Think gift giving for Christmas, upcoming birthdays, and good literature for read alouds at home. Martha will be calling you to volunteer at the Book Fair!
November 26th –Parent / Teacher Conferences — Students DO NOT attend school . Sign up sheets for conferences will be out this week. Sign up for a 20-30 minute time block to talk about your child’s successes and progress. Find out how you can help your child at home, too.
Thanksgiving is November 27. Students do not attend school on Nov. 26, 27 and 28. Note: There will be no Extended Care or Extended Learnig on Nov. 26
A lot of Happenings in November…..don’t miss out….add everything to your calendar. Don’t forget your volunteer hours at Saint Sophia School. We will be sending home a “project” for you and your child (or just you) to work on. This will count toward volunteer hours.
