Beth Johnson

Beth has a Bachelor's of Art degree from the University of Wyoming and a Master's degree from Westminster.  She has been an educator in the public school system since 1972. She served on numerous committees and chaired Accreditation Committees, the English department, and Smaller Learning Communities for Jordan High School. She was the coordinator for the Professional Development Program and orchestrated the Emergency Safe School Plan with the Winder Group of Jordan High School.  She created and implemented a mentor program for interdisciplinary departments for Writing Across the Curriculum. She served as the Sterling Scholar advisor for 12 years and thoroughly enjoyed working with outstanding students. She co-authored Peer Response Groups in Action: Writing Together in Secondary School, in 1993 and was professionally recognized as the Pepsi-Cola Teacher of the year, 2002 and the PTA/Principal's Choice Award Teacher of the Year, 1992. Yet, with years of serving on committees and developing programs, she still feels the greatest moments have been seeing her students in the classroom gain knowledge, skills and confidence to meet their challenges, and become the kind of citizens who will give back to their communities in productive ways.
