Welcome to Saint Sophia School!

Welcome to the Saint Sophia School community. These are indeed challenging times for all of us. We want you to know that here at Saint Sophia School we have planned a unique, safe, and engaging PreK and Kindergarten curriculum for your child to learn and grow. Your child will learn about nature in our beautiful outdoor campus through planting, drawing, playing, and using all their senses to peak their natural curiosity. Through hands-on, project based experiences, we will help your child to make meaningful connections to all areas of the curriculum so that they can be better prepared to navigate their futures.

I invite you to become a member of the Saint Sophia School community. Think of the great possibilities awaiting you and your child. I want to personally invite you to come visit us, take a tour of the school grounds, experience it for yourself! I am thrilled to be a part of this special community here at Saint Sophia School and I look forward to working with each of you.

Our Story

FOUNDED:

Founded in 1996, Saint Sophia School opened its doors in 1997 to the community of Salt Lake City, Utah.  Beginning with Pre-K and Kindergarten, the school added a grade every year until reaching the sixth grade.  The school is a non-profit 501 C 3 and is governed by an advisory board.   The founding families reached a milestone in 2010 when Saint Sophia School’s first sixth-grade class graduated from high school and in 2014 from college.

TODAY:

In the spring of 2016, Saint Sophia School changed directions and focused exclusively on Early Childhood Education.  We are thankful for the opportunity to provide children with the foundations for intellectual, social, spiritual, and physical growth in those critical years where they can Discover, Explore, Create, and Imagine.

BEST VALUE EDUCATION:

Part of the original mission was to offer excellence in education while keeping tuition affordable.  We still offer the best value for education with an outdoor campus that is unmatched anywhere in the Valley.

COMMUNITY:

Saint Sophia School is part of the Greek Orthodox Community of Greater Salt Lake.

TRADITIONS:

Hellenism is the cultural tradition of modern Greeks that dates back to fifth Century Classical Greece.  The tradition of Hellenism is dedicated to the education of every human being.  Saint Sophia School continues in the spirit of Hellenism and draws on its tradition to advocate education as the primary means for the intellectual and physical development of children.

THE NAME:

Saint Sophia is an early Christian martyr who dedicated her three daughters Faith, Hope, and Love to the church in the protection of those same Christian ideals.  The school determined its name based on Saint Sophia’s devotion to her children.
